Introduction to History/Genealogy
The Genealogy and Local History Department of Morrison-Talbott Library offers a variety of resources to researchers. Most of these resources are for use in the library, but some local history and genealogy books can be checked out. Printed material can be photocopied, and our microfilm reader can also make copies. There are links to several genealogy and local history sites on the Genealogy computer in the library. Heritage Quest Online, World Vital Records, and Ancestry.com are databases purchased by the library for genealogical and historical research. Ancestry.com can be accessed in the library only. Heritage Quest Online and World Vital Records can be accessed from any computer at no charge with a valid Morrison-Talbott Library card.

Because of limited staffing, we cannot provide in depth research for genealogists. However, we can do limited research if provided with specific information. We can also provide contact information for local genealogists who will do research for a fee. Andrew Cooperman, head of the Genealogy and Local History Department, works every Thursday evening, all day every Friday, alternating Monday evenings and one Saturday a month. He can be contacted at 1-618/939.6232 and/or andrewc@waterloolibrary.org.
