How To Request an Item
You may request an item in person, by phone or email at the circulation desk, by logging into your account online, or by using the SHARE Mobile Library app. When the requested item arrives at MTL for you, you will receive an email or text message based on your preference. You will have 8 days to pick up your item before it is returned as unclaimed.
Using ASPEN
To request items using the ASPEN catalog, use this link to the ASPEN library catalog, or select “Search Catalog” or “My Account.” Next, locate the item you would like to request, then click “Place hold.” You will then be prompted to sign in to your account using either your username or your barcode and PIN number. Your PIN number is the last 4 digits of the phone number you gave when you signed up for your library card. Next, you will confirm your pickup location. Finally, you will click “Submit Hold Request.”
Using the old SHARE catalog
To request items using the old SHARE catalog, use this link to the SHARE catalog. Search for and locate the item you would like to request, then click “Request It.” You will be prompted to enter your username or barcode and PIN number. Next, you will confirm your pickup location and the date you would like to activate the request. Finally, you will click “Submit Request.”
Using the SHARE Mobile Library app
You will sign into your account and select “Search Catalog,” find the item you want, then select “Place Hold.” You can also change your pickup location.
How To Renew Items
Most items can be renewed up to 2 times. Items may be renewed in person, over the phone or email, using one of the online catalogs or the SHARE Mobile Library app. Items may not be renewable if other patrons have placed holds. Please visit our FAQ for more information on renewals or contact the library.
How To Check Your Reading History
How to Check Your Reading History
From both the ASPEN and SHARE catalogs, you are able to check your reading history. (Reach out to the library at any time to enable your reading history if you didn’t do so when signing up for your library card.) After you have signed into your account within the catalog, select “Reading History” from the menu. You can manage your history by deleting or grouping items. In ASPEN, you can also click the button “You Might Also Like” to see recommended read-alikes.
