Caring Cart Program
The Morrison-Talbott Library’s Caring Cart Program brings the joy of reading and entertainment directly to residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Waterloo, IL area. Each facility is provided with a cart—either supplied by the library or by the facility itself—stocked with large print books, movies, puzzles, CDs, and magazines that are no longer part of the library’s circulating collection. Because these items remain at the facility for as long as needed, residents can enjoy them at their leisure without concern for due dates or replacement costs if items become worn or damaged. Library staff refresh the carts monthly, or as requested, ensuring a steady supply of new materials and continued engagement for residents.
In addition to the Caring Cart materials, the library also offers on-site programming for residents. A library staff member can visit the facility to lead engaging activities such as video trivia, game nights, bingo, or arts and crafts sessions. These interactive programs provide residents with opportunities for social connection, creativity, and fun while strengthening the library’s partnership with the community.

Informational Presentations
We also offer informational presentations to community groups and organizations to share more about our library’s many services and resources. These engaging sessions are a great way to learn about everything the Morrison-Talbott Library has to offer—from digital collections and research tools to outreach programs and special events. Whether you are part of a civic club, senior group, or local organization, we’re happy to visit and help your members make the most of their library.
