Add Dimension to Your Life!
The Morrison Talbott Library is pleased to provide 3D Printing services as part of The MakerSpace at MTL. The library houses a Bambu Lab A1 3D printer which provides access to emerging design technologies to inspire and bring three dimensional objects to life.
What is 3D Printing?
3D Printing is the process of making a three-dimensional object from a digital file. The object is created by laying down successive layers of plastic filament on top of each other until the print is created.
Where can I find ideas for printing?
From gadgets to art, you can find design inspiration on YouTube, by searching the web or on the library’s preferred design space: Bambu Studio https://bambulab.com/en/download/studio
You can also learn more about 3D design at https://www.tinkercad.com/
What can I print with a 3D printer?
The library’s 3D printer allows for a variety of creative objects and designs. Designs are limited in size to 9.5 in X 9.5 in X 9.5 in or 25MB, and print time cannot exceed 8 hours. Our printer can print up to 4 colors at a time. You can discuss color options after your 3D Print Request submission. The library reserves the right to refuse printing requests that are:
- Prohibited by state, local or federal law.
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or pose a threat to the well-being of others.
- Obscene or inappropriate for the library environment.
- In violation of another’s intellectual property rights.
- Likely to fail to print or cause damage to the printer.
Does it cost to print?
Yes. The cost is calculated at $.20 per gram of the post-production weight of your object, plus a $2.00 printing fee.
